At a time when insurance companies are seeking legislative concessions in many states, it may be instructive to review how one former insurance company lawyer exposed alleged corporate policies that, if true, would constitute fraudulent criminal behavior and bad faith. Amy Girod Zuniga, a former member of State Farm’s litigation team, gave a deposition in support of a lawsuit filed by Roderick and Krista Taylor in 1995. She testified that State Farm agents and employees forged customer signatures to exclude earthquake coverage from policies after the earthquake. She testified that State Farm was aware of the pattern of forgeries because the company paid claims whenever the forgery could be exposed and proven by the Insured.'"

The author, Angela Russell has done an amazing job sharing her dissatisfaction with State Farm Insurance Company using social media. Her Twitter account has over 6,700 followers who happily retweet her posts to their followers. Her web site, which is linked to her Twitter account, is filled with damning documentation, links, and photographs. All of this digital information is searchable and available on the internet. First it was contacting the driver (they screwed up and put the claim on a guys fil with the same name but different state, which I dont know how they screwed up given that I gave them his policy number), now their questioning whether or not his coverage extends to a rental (which it does or they wouldn't have rented him the car)."

Today we received a Notice of Non-Renewal on our auto policy. When I called the agent and asked why, I was told that we had too many claims in the past year. July 2009 my horse Zeus died from a ruptured intestine from Colic. State Farm did not pay out on the policy. They said that Colic is an illness. I said so what. This policy was for death. At the final meeting between myself and my contractor and State Farm's adjuster and State Farm's hired contractor (their expert), I drove 75 miles to the SF office and SF's contractor didn't even show up. Then, ironically, as I continued the fight against them into the following year, they chose to cancel my policy. They stated that it was because I had filed two claims (distinctly weather related) in two years. The other driver admitted negligence and was ticketed for the accident. Her side accepted full liability and called to advice seeking medical treatment if needed. So I did. After a month of taking a prescription that didn't help I seeked 4 mos of chiropractic treatment which was yielding results. State Farm has denied $1700 worth of diagnostic tests done. I tried to explain that a brain surgeon wouldn't go in w/out xrays but they simply stamp it denied and here I am with unpaid bills for an accident that wasn't at ALL my fault. Great customer service. I just wanted to warn any customers to beware. Their 'mission' that's claimed on this FB page is a joke. They are not there for you when you need them. Secondly, State Farm has always touted its agents — they’re “captive,” meaning they work only for the company, as opposed to independent agents that can sell for multiple insurers. Those agents are supposed to help you choose the right policy for your home. So for 40 years this woman has listened to her State Farm agent’s advice and paid the company, only to be screwed when it was the company’s turn to pay her.
And it’s certainly not a clear-cut case of her not being covered. In fact, she had every reason to think she was covered — thanks to her agent."
